Phase
A region of matter with a consistent structure and set of properties under stated conditions.
Why it matters
Solid, liquid, and gas are broad categories. Crystal structure, magnetic order, and composition can define more specific phases.
More precise language
A thermodynamically distinct, physically homogeneous region separated from others by boundaries or changes in state variables.
Use in the sandbox
Look for the model label.
Every result should identify its evidence type and conditions. If those are absent, the result is incomplete.
